Daffodil Trail
The Daffodil Trail is a .75-mile loop that starts at the Daffodil Trailhead off of Brush Road.

To begin, pull into the Daffodil Trail parking lot. It should be noted that this is a very small parking lot with little to no parking spaces. When the daffodils on the trail reach 50 to 100% full-bloom, this parking lot and trail get packed, so it’s best to visit during a weekday or early morning or late evening on weekends.

When leaving your car, you will head directly to the trailhead (you cannot miss it) and walk straight for about 2 minutes. During this section of the hike, you will notice little to no daffodils before coming up on the loop.
Once you get to the loop, you can either go clockwise or counterclockwise. My personal preference is to go counterclockwise. By doing this, you will immediately notice, to your right, a small daffodil garden that has a variety of daffodil flowers that you will encounter on the hike. While the exact number of daffodils is unknown, it is believed that there are thousands throughout this section of Furnance Run (Summit Metro Parks).

After you learn about the daffodils, you will see, continue on the trail through the beautiful furnace run forest. This is the perfect family-friendly hike in Northeast Ohio, because it’s short, flat, and has lots of variety to keep your children entertained.
Within a couple of minutes, you’ll have up on the first section of daffodils to your right. Take as much time as you need exploring, taking pictures, and even smelling these beautiful flowers.

When you are done with the first section of daffodil flowers, continue on the trail for another 1/2 mile. One of the most unique features of the daffodil trail in Furnace Run is how the daffodils follow the edge of the path as it curves in and out of the forest.

Throughout this entire hike, you’ll continue to notice thousands of daffodils throughout the trail. Not only this, though, but there are about a half dozen benches along the path where you can take breaks if you are tired, want to enjoy a few minutes of solitude, or just take in the beautiful valley that cuts beneath you.
As you finish the loop, you’ll notice there is a rippling creek down and to the right, along with one final park bench and amazing pine trees surrounding it. Do not skip on this. After a hard rain, the creek becomes a roaring river, almost mimicking a waterfall, and if there isn’t any rain, it becomes a peaceful stream that complements an amazing day.
When you are finished exploring the area, head back to your car and either explore the surrounding Richfield and Brecksville cities or take a quick drive to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to spend some additional time hiking the magnificent trails.

- The ability to hike as far as you want and experience more than just flower blooms.
- Much more parking with much more to do after you visit
- A visit to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
