Towpath Cherry Blossom Guide
Towpath Cherry Blossoms

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of the best parks and places in Northeast Ohio for cherry blossom viewing. Over 470 cherry blossom trees planted by the Japanese Association of Northeast Ohio turn this few-mile stretch of the towpath into a wonderful display of whites, pinks, and reds for several weeks.
It is open to all visitors every day and is free. Unlike other parks that have cherry blossoms, you don’t have to be concerned about crowds, as there are plenty of trees over a several-mile stretch. There are plenty of parking spaces by the cherry blossom trees. And if you can’t get enough of the cherry blossoms, there is even an Akron Sakura Festival that occurs near the Towpath Trail.

Finally, cherry blossom blooms vary depending on the year and the climate. Typically, you can expect them to bloom anytime between mid-March and mid-April, and they will last for several weeks, depending on temperature and frost. Based on the recent publicity on local news stations and social media, it will be hard to miss it. But if you want to experience true peak colors, I recommend following the local weather station and Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
