Plateau Picnic Area

Plateau Picnic Area is one of Brecksville Reservation’s best-kept secrets. It is one of the park’s smallest but most beautiful picnic areas, with ten picnic tables (between the shelter and the field), perfect for family gatherings, birthday parties, and picnics.

What stands out about this picnic area is that it is quiet. Because very few visitors know about it, you can expect to have it all to yourself at all times of the year. Whether the weather is poor or beautiful, the shelter or open picnic tables make it the best location for a last-minute party, gathering, etc.

For the 30 visitors that the picnic area can hold, expect amenities such as a water fountain, several charcoal grills, about 15 parking spaces, and one portapotty.

While there is no swingset or playground, kids and pets alike will love the wide open field, narrow valleys, and forests to explore. Best of all, Chippewa Creek is only a five-minute walk from the parking lot. And if you decide the Plateau Picnic Area is too busy or not to your liking, then the Chippewa Picnic Area is only a five-minute walk, too!

Finally, this is one of the best picnic areas for trail access. Two of the trails you can access are the White Oak Trail and My Mountain Trail.

Alternative Option

Plateau Picnic Area is a peaceful and relatively unknown area of the park, but it is an excellent picnicking area for most visitors. If this picnic area lacks the amenities you seek and is complete, try the Meadows Picnic Area.

Like Plateau Picnic Area, it is first come, first serve. Its shelter holds slightly more people than Plateau and has more picnic tables across the open field.

In addition, it has a baseball field, a large field for playing, a swing set, a firepit, and another small shelter that can be used. Best of all, you are close to numerous others and have a creek for children and pets.
