Paul Jones

I’m Paul Jones, an American dad and the founder of OhioParkQuests. As an avid outdoorsman and expert hiker, biker, backpacker, kayaker, rock climber, and park explorer, I’m passionate about teaching visitors the best way to experience parks. With my experience, I can help you plan the perfect park trip, whether you are looking for a non-crowded, easy family hike or scoring that rare National Park permit.

Paul Jones parkquests

I have explored almost every foot of Ohio’s State and Community parks and 40 National Parks to create the best trip agendas regardless of your goal. I’ve done ultra marathons in community parks, have led canyoneering in the incredible slot canyons of Zion National Park, scored almost impossible summer lodging at Ohio State Parks, and have backpacked through the Yellowstone National Park wilderness among grizzlies and wolves. I specialize in hiking trails, park activities, lodging and dining options, scoring hard-to-get permits, and creating the permit agenda no more your trip length or experience.

As an avid park explorer, I continuously hone my skills by participating in new activities and collaborating with fellow experts. With over 30 years of living near a National Park and over 20 years exploring parks across the United States, it’s safe to say I’m an avid park enthusiast.

While learning from my articles and videos, you will notice the constant help from my friends and family. My park journey would not be the same without the help of my wonderful wife, 7-year-old daughter, 4-year-old son, and our 8-year-old Australian Shepherd, who keeps everyone in line.

Fun Facts

My family and I spend almost all of our free time in a park (this means all 365 days a year in any park we can find). Some of my highlights have included reaching the summit at Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, leading hiking expeditions in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, lake trout fishing in Grand Tetons National Park, and being one of the few people to annually reach the summit of Longs Peak in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

I have also hiked every mile in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, was one of the first kayakers on the Cuyahoga River when the dam was removed, have won numerous triathlons in our community parks, and haven’t missed a visit to our community park in over five years.
