Eagle Point Trail Observation Point

Eagle Point Trail is a quick and easy .3-mile out-and-back that starts at Eagle Point Trailhead in the heart of Tinkers Creek State Nature Preserve. You can access this trailhead off Old Mill Road.

To begin, pull into the small parking lot right off Old Mill Road. This parking lot comes up right before or right after the railroad tracks (depending on the direction you are coming from).

You will enter the trail and immediately find yourself among beautiful maple and evergreen trees. The trail is flat, easy, and perfect for beginners and families.

Eagle Point Trail

Follow this trail for approximately five minutes. The trail will stay mostly straight, and the view won’t look very different. You will see glimpses of a beautiful pond to the right and may even spot some birds or mammals.

Before you know it, you will approach the Eagle Point Observation deck. This observation deck is a great spot to have a few peaceful moments. It is also one of the few spots in Ohio where you can see a bald eagle fall in the distance, and if you are patient, you may even see a bald eagle no matter what time of year you visit.

Eagle Point Trail Observation Deck

Once you complete the observation deck, head back the way you came. It should be just as quick back, and before you know it, you’ll be back at your car.

The benefits of this hike are that you get the following:

  • Beautiful views of lots of ponds over a 1.8-mile loop.
  • There are more observation and sitting areas for wildlife, views, and more.
  • Less crowd. While you may run into a few people, it will be less than 1.8 miles, and then it is over .3 miles.

And if this isn’t long enough of a hike for you, check out Tinkers Creek State Park and its Pond View Trail just a few minutes down the road.
